Lambic or Gueuze beers are naturally fermented beers brewed in the Zenne valley in the Brussels area. These unfiltered natural fermented gueuze beers are very traditional and are characterised certainly by a specific acidity caused by natural fermentation. They are mostly presented in the 37,5cl champagne corked bottles but they are availabe in the 75cl champagne bottles on request. These Lambic or Gueuze beers are quite famously used as the basis for some delicious fruitbeers (cherries, raspberries, cassis, peche).

The Cantillon brewery in Brussels makes a wonderful sharp geuze beer. Cantillon kriek is based on the excellent Cantillon geuze to which after 18-24 months real cherries from the Brussels area are added for one winter. The Rose de Gambrinus is based on a mixture of raspberries and cherries.  The Cantillon Foufoune, Iris, Vigneronne/St lamvinus are respectively based on apricot, petals and grapes.

Unfortunately, the ‘Vandevelde’/’Oud Beersel’ brewery very recently stopped brewing. Both their geuze and kriek beers were of the best quality and have become collectors items!

The Boon brewery is still a very traditional family company where lambic brewing is still craftwork. Their geuze, oude kriek, framboise and marriage parfait are very respected products in the geuze world.
